Comment : Cottageman : a cottage-based farmer. The child was born in Owschlag. The church stands in Kropp. Bocken is a female nameform of Bock. Peculiar old German grammar.

The groom Hinrich Hass, farmhand at Carlshof, legitimate son of the "Haeuerinste" Johann Hass and Margaretha née Mahrt in Osterbye, 25 years old ; with his bride Anna Schildhauer, maid servant at Louisenlund, legitimate daughter of Detlef Schildhauer, formerly cottageman in Owschlag, presently in Eggebek, and Caroline née Backer [Bock], 23 years old. Witnesses :1. Hans Juergen Hass in Kochendorf. 2. The tailor Schroeder in Kosel. Papers that were produced : 1.) The groom's certificate of vaccination, evidencing his vaccination the 17th July 1834, by Petersen 2.) The bride's certificate of vaccination, evidencing her vaccination the 24th Aug. 1835, by Dr. Petersen. 3.) The bride's "Aegtebrief" , with date the 30th Nov. 1857 by Pastor Hansen in Kropp. 4.) It was required when the person was not born in the parish where he or she intended to get married.
"Armenschein" : a certificate that states that a person is not benefitting from public relief funds, that he / she does not live of the poorbox.
Locations : find Fleckeby on the map, half way between Eckernfoerde and Schleswig, on the main road (B 76). Louisenlund is just north of it, on the banks of the Schlei. Carlshof (Karlshof) is a single location just south of Fleckeby, north of Wolfskrug. It belonged to the manorial estate Louisenlund.
